WORKSHOPS AND ORIENTATION FALL SEMESTER:
The Visual Communication Lab will offer the following workshops over the course of the semester. All DART Students, if interested, may attend any of the workshops listed below. You may sign up in person or alternatively via email at visual.communication.lab@concordia.ca.

VC LAB ORIENTATION

The VC Lab Orientation informs you about its equipment, resources and policies. If you would like to work in the lab and haven’t attended a class orientation or would like to refresh your memory, this orientation is for you.

JAPANESE BINDING

In this workshop students will learn how to make a Japanese Bound booklet. Basic material will be provided: PVA glue, Waxed Binding Thread, Needle, Awl, X-Acto Knife, Metal Ruler, Bone Folder and Cutting Board.
Students should bring special material they wish to experiment with.
What should you bring?
– Text and cover paper you want to experiment with.

PERFECT BINDING

In this workshop students will learn how to make Perfect Binding. Basic material will be provided: PVA glue, Glue Brush, X-Acto Knife, Metal Ruler, Bone Folder and Cutting Board.
Students should bring special material they wish to experiment with.
What should you bring?
– Text and cover paper you want to experiment with.

EMBOSSING ON PAPER (different techniques that raises a three-dimensional image on paper)

In this workshop students will learn how to make Embossing on paper. Basic material will be provided: Light table, Dotting Tools, X-Acto Knife, Metal Ruler, Bone Folder and Cutting Board.
What should you bring?
– Paper you want to experiment with.
